Baby Updates

Juliette | Twenty Month Update

I had originally intended on writing this post at 18 months but things have been a little wild lately so here we are at 20 months! Better late than never, right?

Things have changed dramatically since I last updated at 12 months! Since 18 months we have had a girl who sleeps through the night consistently! I never thought I’d see the day. Juliette sleeps from 8:00pm to 7:15am-ish. She naps from 11:15am to 1:00pm. I am so proud that she is finally a consistent and good sleeper! We also stopped breastfeeding at 18 months. I always worried that it would be a hard transition for Juliette to wean because she was definitely a comfort nurser, especially before sleep times. I felt we were both ready and so one day we just stopped cold turkey. And it went seamlessly! She never asked to nurse again.

Juliette has always loved her paci but we knew we were getting to the point where she needed to only have it while in her crib or in situations like car rides (or tantrums in the store!) and once we made that decision her speech has greatly improved. As you may know from previous updates I taught Juliette sign language and that has been her main form of communication. She still signs “please” and “all done” but she is talking so much more now. She says Mama, Dada, Papa, bum bum, yeah, dog, doc, bubble, wa wa, truck, clock, hi, help, up, baby, night night, baba and la la (love you).

Meal times are hit and miss these days (welcome to toddlerhood) but we are just going with it! Some of her favs are avocado, peanut butter, any kind of fruit, pizza, and tortillas. She still does NOT like meat. If she has meat on her plate she immediately hands it to me. I always kid that it’s because I could not stand meat during my first trimester with her! Juliette eats well with utensils and drinks well out of various types of cups. We are giving her almond milk and some whole milk. She loves water the most.
