Pregnancy Update: Month 4 | Weeks 14-17

I am now one month into my second trimester! We are nearing the halfway point and honestly, this pregnancy is just flying. It has been pretty uneventful which I am grateful for!

CRAMPING: I had a few days during week 17 that I experienced cramping. I read that it is normal as your body is stretching out to make more room for the growing baby and it eventually stopped. It wasn’t really painful but more of a dull cramping.

FATIGUE: My fatigue is nothing like what I went through during the first trimester but it’s definitely still present. I feel like I never have a lot of energy no matter how much I rest. I’m sure it doesn’t help that I am not sleeping well.

MOODY: Serious mood swings going on here lately! I can be happy one minute and very irritated the next.

TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN: 5 pounds

THE BELLY: Prior to week 17 I would still wake up with a tiny belly that would get bigger throughout the day as I would have food and liquid…but not anymore! At the end of this month I really noticed that my baby bump was here to stay!

WHAT I’M WEARING: I love wearing maternity clothes, and like I mentioned in my first trimester update, I have been wearing them for several weeks now! I find some of my favorite pieces at Old Navy and Ross. I have been wearing a lot of the same outfits that I wore my first pregnancy but I will definitely need to go shopping when the weather turns cold. I wasn’t pregnant during the Winter last time so I will need to stock up on some more jeans and long sleeves to make it until March! My usual go to outfit is leggings with a tee or light weight hoodie.

I started to feel baby flutters at 16 weeks and I was over the moon! The flutters turned into full movements by 17 weeks. Joren and I actually FELT the baby from the outside that week as well which blows my mind.

I had my 17 week OB appointment and it was uneventful, which i’m happy with! She listened to the heartbeat and I was on my way. My OB is unfortunately leaving the practice (which breaks my heart – she was AMAZING during my last pregnancy!) and I meet my new doctor at my 21 week appointment.

CURRENT FEELINGS: As mentioned earlier I have been feeling extra hormonal lately. I am super moody and I feel that I lack patience a lot quicker. But I am also feeling very happy, thankful and excited!

SLEEP: Is getting hard. I’m not even that big yet and I am already uncomfy! This past week I have been experiencing some insomnia. It doesn’t matter how exhausted I am from the day, I go to lay down and I can’t sleep. I toss and turn a lot throughout the night.

HIGHLIGHT OF THE MONTH: Feeling the baby move for the first time! I have been looking forward to this since I found out I was pregnant. It’s my favorite!

LOW OF THE MONTH: None that I can think of.

OBSESSING OVER: Finding out what we are having so I can start planning, decorating, shopping and nesting!

MISS ANYTHING?: Drinking as many cups of coffee as I wish. And sushi!

FOOD CRAVINGS + AVERSIONS: I haven’t been having any serious cravings but what I have noticed is things that I normally love to eat I want even more, like Thai food and sweets! Veggies do not sound good to me.

LOOKING FORWARD TO: Finding out if we are having a boy or a girl! We have our 20 week anatomy ultrasound scheduled on 10/23 and we could not be more excited!
